QSE’s main index gained 208.46 points last week

DOHA:  Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) benchmark index gained 208.46 points, or 2.03 percent, last week when the bourse closed yesterday at 10,461.65 points.

Trading value during last week increased by 16.93 percent to reach QR1.32bn compared to QR1.13bn at the end of previous week.

Trading volume increased by 79.83 percent to reach 644.19 million shares, as against 358.22 million shares, while the number of transactions rose by 19.66 percent, to reach 35,839 transactions as compared to 29,951 transactions.

Market cap rose by 2.35 percent to reach QR578.60bn as compared to QR565.29bn at the end of previous week, reports QNA.

The Banking and Financial Services sector led trading value during last week with 45.07 percent of the total trading value. Industrials sector, which accounted for 15.31 percent. The Real Estate sector accounted for 12.67 percent, and Telecoms sector, which accounted for 8.66 percent The Banking and Financial Services sector led trading volume during last week with 36.23 percent of the total trading volume.

Real Estate sector accounted for 33.25 percent. The Industrials sector accounted for 17.08 percent and Telecoms sector accounted for 5.04 percent.

The Banking and Financial Services sector led trading number of transactions during last week with 28.08 percent of the total number of transactions. Industrials sector which accounted for 24.80 percent. The Real Estate sector accounted for 18.64 percent, and Telecoms sector, which accounted for 13.01 percent.

From the 46 listed companies 27 ended last week higher, while 17 fell and two unchanged.

The QNB led trading value during last week with17.18 percent of the total trading value. Ezdan Holding Group accounted for 9.44 percent. The Qatar International Islamic Bank accounted for 7.47 percent.

When compared on daily basis the QSE index dropped 4.84 points, or 0.05 percent, yesterday compared to Wednesday’s closing. The volume of shares traded decreased to 128.85 million from 156.88 million on Wednesday and the value of shares decreased to QR251.73m from QR306.51m on Wednesday.

From the 49 companies listed on QSE, shares of 48 saw trading yesterday. From these, 14 companies gained, 20 closed lower and remained 14 companies unchanged.

Indices of five sector ended in green zone and two sectors ended in red zone yesterday. QSE Total Return Index decreased 0.05 percent to 19,250.33 points.
