
Qatar Chamber (QC), the country’s largest and oldest private industry representative body is exploring and promoting local industries and products across the African continent. The trade delegation, including prominent business leaders visited the continent with aims to promote Qatar economy and open new channels of cooperation for Qatar businessmen to invest in Africa as well as find new destination for Qatari products and exports.
The delegation, which included QC board members Mohamed bin Mahdy Al Ahbabi and Dr Mohamed bin Gohar Al Mohamed, visited to Ethiopia and Kenya, which are some fast growing economies of the African continent.
On the sidelines of the tour, the Chamber’s team met with chairs of chambers federation of commerce and industry in both countries. They also held meetings with businessmen from both countries to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation in trade and investment with Ethiopia and Kenya.
On his part, Dr Al Mohamed said that the visit also reviewed the possibility of holding two permanent expos for Qatari industries and SMEs in both the countries’ chambers, noting it represents a new initiative of QC to promote local products in Africa, which is a very important and huge market. He noted that Ethiopian and Kenyan chambers have welcomed the initiative, affirming it would help inform business communities of both countries on Qatari industries and facilitate import Qatari products to these countries.
Ambassador of Qatar to Kenya Jabor bin Ali Al Dosari hosted a gala dinner in honour of Qatari delegation in the embassy in the presence of the Special Adviser of the President Bureau for Asian Affairs Professor Mohamed Hussain Abdeely and a number of Kenyan officials and businesspersons.
Also, Ambassador of Qatar to Ethiopia Hammad bin Mohamed Al Dosari hosted a gala dinner in honour of Qatari delegation.
